YOUTH PROGRAM
We are willing to work together to help youth in this area.
Youth are setting a high bar for the rest of us to follow. They help us challenge our assumptions and our perspectives and inspire us to improve our own lives. Their optimism, ingenuity, dedication, enthusiasm, and ability to engage large numbers of “change makers” makes it important for us to offer more opportunities to support their ideas and efforts. We are willing to work together to help youth in this area.
For disadvantaged children and adolescents facing barriers to achievement and opportunity, there is one proven, evidence-based intervention: Mentoring. A mentor is a caring, consistent presence who devotes time to youth. A structured and trusting relationship emerges, helping this youth discover his or her personal strength. Mentoring provides young people, particularly those at risk for becoming disconnected from school and work, with important connections that lead to social and economic opportunity. This process is critical to the social, emotional, and cognitive development of youth. We are developing programs related to Youth Education, Youth Daily Life, and Youth Career.
Educational outreach refers to activities that support formal or classroom-based education, as well as informal education. Educational outreach campaigns provide educational experiences for youths at classrooms, libraries, after-school programs, community-based organizations, and museums; the campaigns also support professionals and paraprofessionals in these fields. This definition includes initiatives that also have a website targeting the general audience, or a family activity guide, or a partnership with NAMUHOPE. However, at its core, we focus on programs having a strong educational mission.
